Taking Risks and Negotiating with Confidence

Taking the Risk: Negotiating with Confidence and Clarity with Lauren Valentine

presented by the Women In Business Committee of the Colonie Chamber

Women are often taught to be prepared, collaborative, and accommodating. It’s less common that we are taught how to take smart risks or negotiate from a position of strength. In this interactive session, we’ll challenge common myths around negotiation and unpack why so many capable women hesitate to ask for more, speak up, or hold firm in high-stakes conversations.

Drawing from proven Sandler principles and real-world business scenarios, this session will help participants:

  • Reframe risk as a strategic advantage rather than something to avoid

  • Navigate negotiations with confidence, not concession

  • Communicate value clearly without over-explaining or apologizing

  • Hold equal footing in conversations involving money, influence, and decision-making

Attendees will leave with practical tools, language frameworks, and a renewed mindset to advocate for themselves, their ideas, and their worth. Whether you’re negotiating a deal, a promotion, or your next bold move, this session will equip you to lead the conversation with confidence.

crafting a holistic & high-impact elevator pitch

The Women in Business Committee of The Colonie Chamber of Commerce is hosting an event!

From “Nice to meet you” to “Tell me more” crafting a holistic & high impact elevator pitch:

In a crowded networking room (whether it’s a Chamber mixer or a chance encounter in the coffee line), you have seconds to make a first impression. However, here’s the truth: a great elevator pitch isn’t just about rattling off your job title. It’s about creating a connection that blends who you are with what you do so people remember you long after the handshake.

In this interactive session, leadership consultant and business strategist, Christina Farinacci-Roberts, will show you how to combine some of her powerful frameworks:

The SOULARISE Leadership Model supports you to introduce yourself holistically, so your personal essence and professional expertise shine together.

The FORTUNE Framework guides you to articulate your why, what, and how with clarity, confidence and cohesion.

You’ll learn how to:

Avoid the “robotic résumé” trap and instead spark curiosity and conversation.

Share a pitch that feels authentic to you and compelling to your audience.

Adapt your pitch for different settings, from casual meetups to high-stakes introductions.

By the end, you’ll have the tools to develop a polished, memorable introduction that makes people think:"I need to know more about you."

Who Should Attend:

Entrepreneurs, small business owners and professionals who want to strengthen their networking impact and communicate their value in a way that resonates.

Format:

Interactive workshop with live examples, guided exercises and take-home templates.
